A family dream becomes Cobourg's pickleball home

Behind Dink Den is a story that every small town in Canada can get behind — local people who saw their community needed something, rolled up their sleeves, and built it themselves.

Dink Den is owned and operated by Derek Munroe, Sherry Munroe, Trish St. Jean, and Keith St. Jean — two families from Northumberland County who share a passion for pickleball and a belief that their community deserved a world-class place to play it. What started as a shared vision became an 8-court indoor facility that is already drawing players from across Ontario.

The Munroe & St. Jean Families Derek, Sherry, Trish & Keith — Cobourg locals who built Northumberland County's first indoor pickleball facility from the ground up.

"Our vision was to create more than just a place to play. We wanted to build a community where people can connect, stay active, and share their passion for pickleball in a welcoming, high-energy environment."

— The Dink Den Ownership Team

That vision is evident in everything about the facility — from the cottage and cabin vibes of the lounge to the professional-grade courts that rival anything you'd find in a major city. Derek, Trish, Sherry, and Keith didn't just build a gym. They built a gathering place.

The ribbon-cutting on May 1, 2026 was celebrated by dignitaries, local residents, and pickleball enthusiasts from across the region — a genuine community moment for Cobourg and all of Northumberland County.

Apollo Pickleball — Dink Den's official paddle partner

We don't just support Dink Den from the sidelines. Apollo Pickleball is the official paddle partner of Dink Den — our paddles are stocked and sold directly in their pro shop, available to every player who walks through the door.

This partnership is exactly what Apollo Pickleball was built for. Our mission has always been to grow pickleball in Canada through Canadian businesses, Canadian communities, and Canadian players — not by following the American model, but by building our own. Dink Den embodies that same vision: a family-owned, locally built facility dedicated to growing the sport right here in Ontario.

🏓 Playing at Dink Den? Ask about Apollo paddles in the pro shop — same world-class T700 carbon fiber and Gen 4 foam core technology, priced in Canadian dollars with no import fees. Try one before you buy, right on the court.

For players in the Cobourg area, this means you can now try an Apollo paddle on a real court, with real opponents, before committing. No guessing from a product page. No waiting for a cross-border shipment. Just walk in, pick one up, and play.

Why this matters for Cobourg and Northumberland County

Before Dink Den opened, pickleball players in the Cobourg area had limited options — outdoor courts that close in winter, borrowed gym space, or long drives to facilities in Oshawa, Peterborough, or Toronto. For a region with a growing and passionate pickleball community, that gap was frustrating.

Dink Den changes everything. For the first time, players in Cobourg, Port Hope, Campbellford, Brighton, Belleville, and all of Northumberland County have a dedicated, year-round indoor home for the sport they love — five minutes off the 401, with free parking.

📍 Cobourg is already known for having one of the best beaches in Ontario. Now it has something else worth driving for — the best indoor pickleball club in Northumberland County. And as the APA circuit has already discovered, it makes for one heck of a tournament destination.

This is exactly the kind of investment in local sport that we at Apollo Pickleball believe in. Pickleball doesn't need to be centred in big cities or American leagues — it needs roots in places like Cobourg, built by people like Derek, Sherry, Trish, and Keith, for communities that are ready to embrace it. That's why partnering with Dink Den wasn't a business decision for us — it was an obvious one. Two Canadian operations, same mission, same community.

Why shop Apollo at Dink Den?

Buying a paddle is a personal decision — feel, weight, grip size, and surface texture all matter. Most Canadian players have had to buy blind from a website and hope for the best. At Dink Den, you don't have to.
